Dr. John Mohler

Dr. John Mohler, III

Dr. John Mohler III graduated in May 2006, magna cum laude, from the University of Maryland, the first dental school in the world. He received several awards at graduation for his academic achievements and service to the school.  Dr. Mohler has extensive experience in treating medically fragile and special needs patients as part of a clerkship in the Special Patient Clinic at U of MD and following graduation in a general practice residency at York Hospital in Pennsylvania. During this very rigorous year, he treated countless emergencies and was on call for the hospital emergency room. He gained experience in dental trauma, implants, rotary endodontic therapy, hospital operating room dentistry and pediatrics.

In July 2019, Dr. Mohler earned his Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry, an honor held by less than 2% of general dentists in the US.  This distinction is reserved for those who have completed over 1200 hours of continuing education, many of which are hands on participation courses, treating patients. He earned the Governor's Citation Award for service in 2021.  He was elected as a Fellow to the International College of Dentists in 2022.

Since 2011, Dr. Mohler has served as Chair of the Continuing Education Committee for the Maryland Academy of General Dentistry, planning the state dental meetings, and bringing state-of-the-art lecturers to the Baltimore area for this organization each year.  Dr. Mohler is the staff dentist for St. Joseph's Nursing Home in Catonsville.  He is committed to providing care for those less fortunate, treating patients on trips to the Dominican Republic and El Salvador and closer to home at Special Olympics and Missions of Mercy. He also provides care for the Donated Dental Program through the state of Maryland.

Dr. Mohler is a lifetime, fourth-generation Catonsville resident, graduating from Mt. St. Joe High School and St. Mark School. He is also a proud graduate of Virginia Tech.  He and his wife Jenny, a social worker and a VT grad, each coach sports for their four small children, Abby (Aug 2011) and Jack (Oct 2013), Leland (March 2016) and Daniel (November 2018).  The family's golden retriever puppy, Bailey, joined the family in September 2023.
